Heirs of Tefolaha - Keith Chambers (1984)
(13.56mb pdf, 345 pages)
Keith's PhD dissertation (pepa faka oti). A large file which may take a few minutes to load if you have a slow connection.
It shows how Tefolaha and traditions of the founding of Nanumea and its chieftainship continue to be of importance in today’s society. Provides historical detail on the chiefly system, aliki maga, kopiti groups, and Tefolaha as a former god who has become a secular patron of Nanumea. Many leading elders of Nanumea in the period 1973-1984 were interviewed as part of the research leading to this book.
