Peter McQuarrie has lived and worked in the Pacific Islands for over thirty years (Tuvalu, Kiribati, Fiji and Tokelau). A native New Zealander, Peter was married to Fuafua Penani, of Nui Island in Tuvalu.

A scholar and writer, photographer, restorer of antique radio equipment, and community volunteer, Peter lives in Auckland with his family. His Pacific related publications include the following books:
